Maybelline Holy Grails

This month’s brand focus is all about my favourite drugstore brand, Maybelline. It’s a great brand that’s available on the high street and never  compromises on quality.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara (£7.99): I tried so many mascaras over the years both high end and drugstore, but I always seem to come back to the ‘Falsies’. I love how it lengthens and thickens my lashes without leaving any clumps. There are so many reviews of this mascara online and Tanya Burr loves it.

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara (£4.99): I already repurchased this product three times since discovering it last year. The perfect brow setting gel with a hint of tint, it has a longwearing formula that doesn’t flake.

Maybelline Brow Satin Eyebrow Pencil (£5.99): This is a great double-ended brow pencil. The crayon end of the brow is skinny and perfect for defining those edges; the other end is a powder that helps fill in any gaps. I’ve got mine in the shade ‘ Dark brown’ but I find that the crayon and the powder combined give me a much darker effect than desired.

Maybelline Color sensation lip Gloss (£6.19): I was never a fan of lip gloss but I’ve been recently converted by the non-sticky texture of the Colour Sensational lip gloss. I took advantage of Boots’ 3for2 offer one day and raided most of the collection. ‘Cashmere Rose’ turned out to be a favourite.

Maybelline Baby lips (£2.99): For me this is the ultimate tinted lip balm. It’s hydrating enough without feeling too heavy or sticky on the lips. I have to admit that I only like the ‘Cherry me’ as I find the others not as moisturizing.

Maybelline Color Drama Lipstick (£4.99): I’m a big fan of the NarsCosmetics’ lip pencils so when I heard that Maybelline released a similar product; I naturally had to try it. As a lover of a bold lip there’s nothing more satisfying than finding the perfect red lipstick. Perfect meaning long lasting, pigmented and hydrating at the same time and these Maybelline Colour Drama Lipsticks achieved  just that.

My March Favourites

                                                 images via: Pinterest

I’ve got to say that I’m pretty excited for my first ever favourites post! I’ve been loving so many things lately but I tried to cut it down to six items. Hope you like it!

This is the best discovery I’ve made in a very long time. SWORKIT is a free circuit-training app that let’s you pick the length of the workout and which part of your body you want to work on. You also have the option of creating your own customized workout if you want to.

I’ve been doing circuit training for over a year now so downloading this app was a no brainer for me. It’s a straightforward, user-friendly app that motivates you to get that workout done.

If you’re into fitness or starting to get into fitness then I highly recommend this app. You don’t need any weights or extra equipment; all you need is an iphone/ipad and motivation!

Here’s an article from Livestrong explaining what circuit training is and what it does to your body, in case you want to read more about it.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer (£34)

I rediscovered this gem while going through my make up stack earlier this month. It’s lightweight and perfect for the ‘No make up look’ days, mine is in the shade ‘Tawny’. I find it works best when my skin is well moisturized so I usually use Embryolisse before applying it.

Chanel Coco Noir (£75)

This has been my scent of choice all winter; it’s quite a deep smell. It’s probably a scent for the evening as it can be quite strong, but for me its’ an any time of the day kind of scent. I am looking for a lighter smell this spring, please let me know if you have any recommendations.

Catfish and the Bottlemen

This album has literally been on repeat for months, especially ‘Pacifier’, ‘Cocoon’ and ‘kathleen’. Plus Van Mccann is an enough reason to love this band.

Deliciously Ella’s raw brownies

I keep going on about how amazing Ella’s recipes are. It’s because they’re very easy to make and they actually taste good. I already made these brownies twice this month and I can’t get enough of them. You can find the full recipe on Ella’s blog.

Last but not least, I’ve been loving GIRLS this month. Yes, I totally finished the whole of season 5 in one day!

Deliciously Ella’s Cleansing Carrot, Orange, Kale, Lemon & Ginger Juice

Deliciously Ella‘s blog has fast become one of my go to destination to try new healthy recipes. I woke up with a heavy headache yesterday so I decided to try one of the juices on the blog, an energy boosting one, in the hope that it will help get rid of that headache.

I opted for the Cleansing carrot, orange, kale, lemon & ginger juice, not only was it delicious but it actually made me feel much better.

Here are the ingredients you need:

4 carrots

2 oranges

2 Handfuls of Kale* ( I used spinach and it turned out great)

1/2 Lemon

1 inch ginger

Put everything in the juicer and enjoy 🙂

* Ella suggests juicing the kale at the same time as the oranges or carrots to get more goodness from the kale!

Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Oil Review

Image via: Feel unique

I am guilty of falling into the trap of buying overhyped products. If a lot of people are talking about it then it means it’s revolutionary right? Well that’s not always the case and I learned that at the expense of my bank account.

I started using Shu Uemera hair oil( £39.50) a year ago and it quickly became a staple in my haircare routine. A holy grail of a product that I will certainly keep purchasing until it gets discontinued.(Let’s hope this never happens!).

My hair was lifeless, dull and overall dry. A few applications in, I noticed that this oil was giving my hair all the nourishment and shine it needed. I usually apply it before I wash my hair; it makes it soft and well moisturized. I also use it before I blow dry my hair or whenever I feel like my hair needs a bit of extra moisture. It also smells incredible.

The only down side to this product is the price tag but you only need one or two pumps per application so a little goes a long way. Definitely worth the investment.

What hair oils do you guys recommend?

Nails: Feeling blue

Spring is just around the corner, with that comes the perfect occasion to dust off your dreamy bright nail polishes. There are so many amazing colours to chose from, making it easy for anyone to have the perfect nails. One shade that I particularly like to wear in spring is Blue.

OPI ‘Can’t find my Czechbook’ ( £ 11.95) remains one of my favourite shades, I first spotted it while looking at Shay Mitchell’s perfect Instagram.  Shay Mitchell’s instagram is one of the most dreamy feeds I follow. It’s the perfect destination to consume a bit of inspiration if you’re into fashion and beauty.  Another brand that offers a great variety of shades is Barry M (from £2.99), their polishes have a long lasting formula and are pretty affordable.

Book Review: The Four Agreements

Image via: Amazon

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine recommended the book ”The Mastery of Love” by Don Miguel Ruiz. I couldn’t get a hold of a copy at that time so I picked up “The four Agreements” instead by the same author. I initially though that this was going to be your classic fruitless self help book but I surprisingly read it in one sitting. This book has the potential to change your life if you allow it.

Be impeccable with your words. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best – These actions seem so simple yet we struggle to apply them to our daily lives. A fair whack of the book is dedicated to freedom and how we should let go of the fear that robs our happiness. Don Miguel Ruiz provides examples of how we should let go of past emotional struggles and focus on the present.

This book was overall vastly enlightening and uplifting. I would definitely recommend it to  anyone looking for a little motivational push.

Have you read the four agreements yet? What did you think?

You can buy the book here.
